The Chain of Generations

One nation, carried through exile after exile — the eras of the mesorah, the lands they were scattered to, and the giants of each generation.

Moshe received the Torah at Sinai and gave it to Yehoshua, to the Elders, to the Prophets, to the Anshei Knesses HaGedolah. Each link is one generation. Open “More gedolim of this era” to go deeper; gold marks dates, and from the Rishonim on, a blue pill marks where each gadol lived.

A living world map of the exile. Pick an era to follow a single migration; drag to pan and scroll or pinch to zoom. The gold-tinted countries are great centers of Torah — click any one (or its dot) to see its gedolim, by era.

The whole chain as one widening tree — from Adam HaRishon, down through every era (dates in each header), splitting at the Rishonim into Sefarad and Ashkenaz, and widening into the kehillos of today. Tap a node to open or close its branches; drag to pan, scroll or pinch to zoom.
